Actress Rain Pryor, daughter of comedian Richard Pryor, reflects on growing up a biracial, half-Jewish child in Beverly Hills

Rain Pryor's show, "Fried Chicken and Latkes," includes heartfelt material about her father's struggles with drugs and multiple sclerosis.

She's a quip off the old block.

The daughter of iconic standup comic Richard Pryor has a stage show of her own — though it isn’t all laughs

Rain Pryor, who starred on the hit series “Head of the Class” in the late ’80s, is getting accolades for her autobiographical solo show, “Fried Chicken and Latkes,” about growing up as a biracial, half-Jewish child in Beverly Hills.

“I grew up in Beverly Hills and unfortunately, the one thing I didn’t realize at a young age … I didn’t know there were poor black people,” the actress told the Daily News ahead of her performance at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in Battery Park City on Wednesday.

“My dad was a black rich man. So the concept wasn’t in my comprehension until I learned about history: ‘Oh, blacks didn’t always have a limousine driver.’”

She got a harsh lesson at the age of 6, when she heard the N-word directed at her for the first time.

“I didn’t know what it was. I knew it was something bad, so I grabbed the kid, bit him and called him a motherf---er, because he pushed me down and said this thing,” recalled Pryor, 46, whose mother is a blond, blue-eyed astronomer, Shelley Bonus.

“It didn’t matter that my dad was Richard Pryor. It mattered that he was black.”

Her father gets more than a cameo in her show, including heartfelt material about his struggles with drugs and multiple sclerosis and his death in 2005.

She also pays appropriate tribute with a pitch-perfect impersonation of the man Comedy Central rated as the all-time greatest standup comedian. “It’s great to talk to you on the phone, s--t,” she told a News reporter to laughter on both ends of the line.

But Rain Pryor also makes “Fried Chicken and Latkes” her own. And the accomplished cabaret singer will be belting out some tunes for the audience.
