Walking for Wendy: VIDEO

His bags are packed and he's buckled in.

Aaron Szukhent is ready for his trip to Chicago.

"Some people like their alone time, and I got a little bit of alone time on the road there," he said. "Listening to music, you know talking to myself."

Waiting in the Windy City is his wife Wendy, who's gearing up for a stem cell transplant.

"I'm hoping this will stop the progression of MS," she said.

Wendy has been battling multiple sclerosis for 15 years. Aaron has been by her side every step of the way.

"He's seen it all," Wendy said. "He's had to pick me up off the floor and...he's had to learn along with me on how we need to pursue the right treatment."

While Wendy's pursuing treatment, Aaron's doing whatever it takes to get her there.

"I'm walking to Wendy and then Wendy is walking away from MS," he said.

Aaron is making the almost 300 mile trek by foot in hopes of raising money for Wendy's transplant.

"I'm not worried at all and I'm thinking I'm giving all that I can give and if it does anything to help her through this..that's what we're after."

Aaron's solo trip is expected to take a week with scheduled breaks included. But before he leaves, a few words to Wendy.

"I love you and this is probably the best thing we've ever been involved with since we've been together..and you're going to be good," he said.

Aaron is expected to arrive in Chicago on Thursday.

Right now, the Szukhents don't know how much the transplant will cost but they're hoping to raise at least $25,000.
