The National Multiple Sclerosis Society issued the following news: Deadline to Enroll For Healthcare Coverage This Year is March 31

For people interested in seeking coverage this year under the Affordable Care Act, they should review and fill out the Health Insurance Marketplace application to see if they qualify for:

- Private health insurance. Plans cover essential health benefits, pre-existing conditions, and preventive care.

- Reduced costs for a prospective health plan. Individuals can preview plans available in their areas to determine which might provide the best cost/benefit ratio based on household size and income..

- Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP). These programs cover millions of families with limited income. For those who might qualify, healthcare.gov will share information with your state agency and they'll contact you. Many but not all states are expanding Medicaid in 2014 to cover more people; find out what Medicaid expansion means for you.

Initial Marketplace open enrollment ends March 31, 2014. For those who don't enroll by that date, the next opportunity to obtain private health insurance through the Exchange Marketplace will be between November 15, 2014 to February 15, 2015. Most people are required to have health coverage in 2014 or be subject to pay a penalty on their 2015 income taxes.
